Creating Slideshows
Note: In order to create a slideshow, you must have access to image editing tools or send images to websuggest@uwinnipeg.ca for editing.
It is possible to create slideshows at the top of your page in Cascade.
The recommended size for images in a Cascade slideshow is the full width 758 (w) x 381 (h) pixels .
When creating images for a slideshow, crop them to the appropriate size and save them for the web. It is recommended that image file sizes do not exceed 150 KB. Most images should be much smaller than that, if possible. Once you have finished editing, upload slideshow images to your website's images folder.
To help keep your images organized, you may want to consider adding a “features” or "slideshows" subfolder to your “images” folder.
To add a slideshow:
- First, change the "Slideshow" radio button from "No" to "Yes."
- Now you can add your items. See the steps on the image below.
- It is not necessary to add a link; however, you should be consistent. Either all or none of the images should contain a link.
- Once one slide is complete, click on the green "+" sign to add another slide.
- You can also remove slides and reorder slides using the "X" and arrow buttons, respectively.
- Once you are finished you can publish your page.
Tip: Sometimes you only have one image – but not a slideshow. You can use the slideshow to display a single image at the top of your page, and by leaving the "Slideshow" radio button set to “No," it will allow one image to appear without the option to scroll through images. Some users prefer this to adding the image to the content area as it makes captions easier and cleaner.
