Students are encouraged to declare their major to be considered for awards available for a specific major. These are the Criminal Justice awards available:
Condren Rex Keatinge Scholarship in Criminal Justice: 2023 award total: $1000.00 (subject to change)
This scholarship is provided through the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Foundation in honour of Condren Rex Keatinge who served in the North Kildonan Police Department and the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Police Service, receiving the Police Exemplary Service Medal in 1988 and retiring in 1994 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He also worked for TD Bank Security and with the Justice Department of the Province of Manitoba. The scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student or students majoring in Criminal Justice.
Erica and Arnold Rogers Scholarship in Criminal Justice: 2023 award total: $1058.00 (subject to change)
This scholarship is provided by the Erica and Arnold Rogers Fund for Academic Excellence. It will be awarded annually to the most promising student entering the final year of a degree program in Criminal Justice.
Manitoba Protective Officers Association Bursary in Criminal Justice: 2023 award total: $453 (subject to change)
This bursary is established by the Manitoba Protective Officers Association in recognition of its 30th anniversary. It will be awarded annually to a student who anticipates a career in law enforcement and is entering the third year of the Criminal Justice Major.
The Skoog Prize: 2023 award total: $1428.00 (subject to change)
This prize was established in honour of Associate Professor Douglas Skoog, faculty member of the Studies in Justice and Law Enforcement Program at The University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. It will be awarded to an outstanding student in Criminal Justice Studies who have completed at least 60 credit hours and has demonstrated community involvement (preferably related to criminal justice).
University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Women's Auxiliary Scholarship in Criminal Justice Studies: 2023 Award total: $920.00 (subject to change)
This scholarship, provided by the Women's Auxiliary, is awarded annually to an outstanding student or students majoring in Criminal Justice.
Wendl-Friesen Corrections Memorial Scholarship: 2023 Award total: $1085.00 (subject to change)
This scholarship was established in 2012 by Dr. Michael Weinrath to honour Werner Rudolf Friesen and Joseph Wendl, two living unit officers who were killed in the line of duty at Stony Mountain Institution in 1984. This scholarship has been created with the blessing of the surviving family members, and support from the Criminal Justice Students' Association and management/staff at Stony Mountain Institution. Dr. Weinrath formerly worked in Correctional Services in Manitoba and other parts of Canada. This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding Criminal Justice major at The University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, who has completed at least 60 hours of study and shown an aptitude for corrections or corrections research.
