Awards and Funding Opportunities

The Women's and Gender Studies Department annually offers a combination of competitive and automatic awards. They are merit-based and are specific to our program. We can only consider students who have declared their major for awards. The University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV has academic advisors who can help you determine your major and plan your degree.

Some awards require an essay submission, references or descriptions of your extra-curricular activities. Please read the award description for more information.

The Awards and Financial Aid Office also has numerous awards available for current UW students. Apply online every term. 

 

Women's and Gender Studies Department Awards

University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Women's Auxiliary Scholarship in Women's Studies - amount variable
Provided by the Women's Auxiliary, this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student who is majoring in Women's and Gender Studies. 

Women’s and Gender Studies Scholarship - $750 (subject to change)
This scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who has completed at least 30 credit hours and is majoring in Women’s and Gender Studies. Preference will be given to a student who has made a contribution to the community.

Dr. Royden and Dr. Angela Davis Memorial Scholarship - amount variable
This scholarship will be awarded to a student in Women's and Gender Studies who is intending to pursue a graduate or professional degree. Preference may be given to someone pursing Cultural Studies. This award has been established in honour and memory of Dr. Royden Davis and his wife Dr. Angela Davis, by their children Sara, Christopher, Jonathan, Rowan, and Michael Davis and their families. Dr. Royden Davis was a highly respected dermatologist; Dr. Angela Davis was a graduate and instructor at The University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, and had a long-standing and passionate interest in history, art and further education. Royden and Angela shared a belief in the pursuit of knowledge and the value of a university education.

Undergraduate and graduate students and faculty are welcome to attend this Zoom session that will highlight the seven upcoming internal student research funding opportunities, and the new application procedure through WebGrants. All of the award information is available on our  webpage. There will be time for questions at the end of the session.

Mitacs Student Funding Opportunities Info Session

Mitacs hosts this Zoom session that will cover: an overview of the Mitacs funding structure, examples of projects in a variety of disciplines, program eligibility and budget options.
