Dr. Henry Duckworth, second President of 間眅埶AV

SEPTEMBER 1 1971: Dr. Henry Edmison “Harry” Duckworth, became second President of the University of 間眅埶AV. Dr. Duckworth expanded part-time enrollment, joint programs with Red River, graduate studies, and research funding. His expansions included Continuing Education and the Daycare, signifying his commitment to accessibility, the community, and non-traditional branches of education. He improved undergraduate scholarship support, he was an avid supporter of athletics, and he maintained a very personal approach to relations with faculty, staff, and students: “we continue to be known as a place where professors are concerned for their students, a reputation which we inherited from United College.” His motto was “the city is our campus.” He served the University until the summer of 1981.
